Harmony Fellowship - Harmonizing Mind, Body, Spirit

Commonly Asked Questions

Do you believe in God?
Absolutely! As a matter of fact we believe that it is all God.  Since God is the creator of everything, everything is God expressed.

I look at the world and see some things that are not so great.  Do you believe that God created both good and evil?
No.  We do not believe that God created evil or even that there is such a thing or power known as evil.  Instead there is the "appearance" of evil.  Interestingly EVIL is LIVE spelled backwards so we think of the term evil to mean when we are living away from our truth.       Because we have the ability to choose our thoughts, we often see what appears to be evil but in fact is only a reflected image of our thoughts.  When we change our thoughts our experiences begin changing and what we previously thought was real transforms into a different experience.

Why do you believe that our thoughts create our reality?  Isn't God the only creator?
Yes, God is the only creator and that creator has Its being in and through us.  God is the life force within us and because of that, God's creative energy is always moving through us.  God is always good and that good is constant but we can place colored lenses over the God within us.  Depending on the color of the lens or rather the tone of the thoughts, beliefs and feelings we are holding over the face of God, we can project an illusion of something other than God, other than Good.

How does Harmony Fellowship approach the concept of sin?
Sin is an old archery term that simply means to miss the mark.  We all miss the mark at times; it's part of the human experience but there is no punishment or judgment other than the guilt or shame we place upon ourselves.
God is love and that love is unconditional and never withheld from us.  When we miss the mark, acting in ways other than loving toward ourselves and others we move out of alignment with that love and we feel lost and out of sync.  This feeling is so uncomfortable that many people turn within and dialogue and  pray to the God of their understanding for help in accessing that love once again for themselves. That love is never withheld from us; God never steps away, but instead it is we that move away when we get caught up in fear.  Receiving the grace of that love corrects our thoughts and erases the fear that initially moved us out of alignment with our true nature.

Is Harmony Fellowship based on Christianity?  What about Jesus?
We believe that Jesus was a human being that had attained a higher consciousness, a Christ Consciousness. He referred to himself as the Son of Man and the Son of God.  We too are the offspring of human beings but our true parent, our true source, is God.  We believe that Jesus was and still is a master teacher and that his metaphysical teachings are very powerful and contemporary.
Many have not understood that his parables were stories explaining what was necessary and possible for our own spiritual growth and not about fishing, farming, etc.   When he spoke of these things in his parables he was referring to the soil of our mind and the seeds we plant there and what we are allowing to grow into our experience.  We reap what we sow.  If we are not happy with what is going on in our lives we need to examine our thoughts.  If we want our experiences to change we must change any thoughts that we or others have planted in the soil of our minds that would weed out the love of God as well as loving ourselves and others.   When he spoke of water he was teaching us how to walk above the waters of our human emotions instead of drowning in guilt or fear; how to be in this world but not of it.  He also taught that the kingdom of heaven is within and that the works that he performed and even greater ones were possible for all of us.
Jesus said that when we gained our spiritual sight we would be able to see he was teaching powerful Universal Laws.  Knowing that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, he taught that it was possible to bring into harmony mind, body and spirit.

I notice that sometimes you refer to God and other times Spirit and other times Love, etc.?  Why all of the name changes in your articles, talks, etc?
Actually, all of these names are referring to the God of our understanding and we interchange them so as not to exclude anyone.  God is universal and all-inclusive Love.   We change the name occasionally so that many people understand that we are referring to the same entity.  Just because we are comfortable with a particular name does not mean that everyone is. Depending on their background, religious history, gender, etc.  some individuals feel more comfortable with the word Spirit because it does not indicate gender.  Another person might prefer Infinite Intelligence, another God or Goddess, others Divine Love, etc.  In order not to exclude anyone we use the many names interchangeably that refer to God because we want everyone to focus on the message and not turn off because they have a hard time with a particular name that is used.  It is just a way of getting around the personality's  tendency to object to small issues and miss the big picture and also a way of honoring the diversity of backgrounds that show up at Harmony Fellowship.
